Marble head of a god Marble head of a god
Turned slightly to the right he gazes out serenely from under a prominent brow, his eyes heavily lidded and unarticulated. A rolled diadem crowns his thick hair whilst a thick beard with traces of red pigment and long moustaches frame his mouth, lips slightly parted. Possibly representing Jupiter.
Roman. c. 1st century AD
Height: 7.3 cm
