Early Dynastic Period, 2nd Dynasty, 2793-2647 BC

Height: 9.7 cm; Width: 17.8 cm

Carved from an attractive veined Anorthosite gneiss (Chephren diorite), the deep bowl rises from a small flat base, the body rounded, the lip with sharp squared angle to the inner rim. The interior carved with a circular depression.

Condition: The bowl had been broken into 4 large sections, these now cleanly repaired with minimal fill and retouching. Extensive natural veining
