Study of the 'Cataracts of Stih (?)'

Titled 'Cataracts of Stih (?)' and dated '28 Dec 1861', bottom left-hand corner.
 
Study from the sketchbook, 'Sketches in the East', of 'J.D.T', an as yet unidentified English watercolour artist. A landscape view of one of the six cataracts, or rapids, originally found on the Nile between Aswan and Khartoum. The date of the study would suggest that it depicts a part of the First cataract at Aswan as the following day the artist was sketching at Philae.
